Autism and Sexuality with Amy Gravino and Kristin Pragle
Thursday, March 19th from 7:00–9:00 pm
This presentation will focus on sexuality experiences, issues and concerns prevalent in the teenage and young adult, higher level of independence, autistic population.
Topics will include: Legal pitfalls and sex-specific evaluations, puberty, self-esteem/self-worth/body image, crushes, dating, online dating, intimacy, sexual safety and empowerment, and break-ups/heartbreak.
About the presenters:
Amy Gravino, M.A., is the president of A.S.C.O.T. Coaching, LLC and the Director of Public and Community Relations for GRASP, and the author of articles that have been published in Reader’s Digest’s “The Best Life Stories,” “Autism Spectrum Quarterly” Magazine, and the blog of Autism Speaks. Amy is now authoring The Naughty Autie, a memoir of her experiences with dating, relationships and sexuality from the firsthand perspective of a woman on the autism spectrum.
Kristin Pragle, MSW, LCSW is a Certified School Social Worker with the Y.A.L.E. School. Kristin received her Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers University, where she also received her certification in Violence Against Women and Children. Kristin completed post-graduate training in the assessment and treatment of sexually abusive youth through the Second Chance Program run by the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission, and has over ten years experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum. Kristin also provides counseling services to children and adolescents through private practice.
This event is free and open to the public, educators, advocates, and parents of Y.A.L.E. School students. Y.A.L.E. School staff members are also invited to attend. All attendees must register online for free tickets to reserve their seat(s).
